otaku mahou shoujo

i tolled you guys i wanted to make them ocs =w= since i'm an a 4-panel kick i decided to make her a slice of life story and i changed dragon's personality.

please note that this isn't magically accurate, even though this is set in japan these monster types aren't really japanese. also, i drew all these characters in their magical items per say (magical body parts mostly) they don't actually have this stuff on/out when they go to school. and there are some mistakes made (i didn't draw the tail and wings of the main character and i didn't draw the wings for two other characters OTL) this is a long description but i think it's worth reading if you want to know about this picture and story.

story: ren aikawa (white haired boy in upper left corner) was tricked into releasing all the magical seals in his town by an old witch/wizard (he was able to do this because of the massive amount of built up magic he has). this released his family guardian spirit from his family's shrine (and many others), this being being sugi/amami aoikawa/aokawa (center main character) (i don't know whether to name her sugi or amami or aoikawa or aokawa) (she's a dragon spirit) (ren's family name should be aoikawa/aokawa but over time it changed to aikawa). after waking up/being released she chose to make ren her familiar/partner.

to explain an important detail i have to go into ren's character.

ren aikawa: ren is the middle child of the aikawa family. his relations being his mother shouko aikawa, his older brother shou aikawa, his younger brother sen aikawa, and his late father renji aikawa. his mother is laid back, young, and kind but can also be very scary, his older brother is either in college or his 3rd year in highs chool and is driven by kendo and can be uptight and silly at the same time and dotes on/worries about ren a lot, his younger brother is in his 3rd year of middle school and is the intelligent type that tries very hard to keep up his grades and to do a good job as student council president, he looks up to ren a lot and always worries about him, and his father is a silly onii-chan type that would have you fooled thinking he was an idiot when in reality he was incredible smart and extremely easy to rely on (i had to include this info because these are actually important characters).
ren himself is an incredible specimen. he has a calm easy going demeanor and can easily adapt to situations. he can be cute and air headed, ditzy, too nice, naive, and over trusting which is what makes his brothers really worried about him and also make them dote on him. he's a little on the short side (basically average height though), he's kind of a shota, and kind of has a slightly girly figure (as most shotas do). he's actually really smart, can easily protect himself physically (he's kind of a martial arts genius but he doesn't do martial arts anymore because fighting for so long put a stain on his heart and lungs so now he can't really do as much physical stuff unless it's in small doses, he also carries an inhaler around and doesn't participate much in p.e), and attracts both males and females (although he's not really interested in dating). he kind of has a perfect otome feel to him but he can actually be really scary, imposing, and manly. all of those things make his brothers adore him and make them want to give him over to nobody. (hey, a little p.s, we find out early on that ren is mixed with dragon, just felt like mentioning it~).

(the important part) even though he may seem perfect, he's really not. he's actually an anime otaku. he's interested in all genres (except for yaoi). he especially likes visual novels and he hordes a lot of them. when sugi/amami comes to live with them she acts like a regal ancient doll so to get her in touch with the modern word she decides to play all of his (and a friend's) visual novels, watches all of his anime, and reads all of his manga. by the end of it she becomes a major obsessed otaku and has a slight grasp on the modern world (it's slightly distorted though because all of the anime influence). she easily adapts to the modern word and becomes a lazy otaku who sits around playing games and and eating chocolate. ren's brothers are jealous and don't like sugi/amami because they don't like someone else being close to ren (you can imagine the scenarios =w= ).

she decides to go to school with ren and makes friends with some other otaku magical girls (if you're not a normal human you can sense others who aren't as well, she just happened to run into fellow otaku ones, what are the odds 679 herpaderpaderp!)

sugi/amami aoikawa/aokawa: sugi/amami is a mixed guardian dragon spirit that's supposed to watch over the aoikawa/aokawa family (she's a mix of european and japanese dragon, that's why she has legs and wings, I JUST NOTICED THAT I DIDN'T DRAW HER WINGS AND TAIL! OTL). she can switch between a few forms (btw, the monsters in this story their true forms are the most human looking ones). she can age as a human if she wants to although with all monsters in this story it's a one time thing. if they choose to, they won't be able to change back and will die whenever their time comes (most of the girls in this story choose this route). she's not a very old spirit, she was past down the job right before the great magical seal happened (oh, did i forget to mention that 679 herpderpderp), this event happened around 50-60 years ago. she's only about 100 years old (fairly young) and is basically a teen. she's basically been frozen/sleeping since the event happened, although in the past few years she's been with renji (after he died) and it made her yearn to be released once again. she usually just sits around the house in a big green sweater and slippers. she's rather short (a loli) and is sometimes self conscious about a lot of things. her bells hold the remnants of her seals, without them her magic would run wild. at school she is eager to learn and tries to have as much fun with her friends as she possibly can. her otaku mind runs wild most of the times.

akane ama(hou/no): (upper right) akane is a pumpkin witch. pumpkins fuel her magic and she'd die without it. since she's had to consume pumpkins all her life she absolutely hates them. she hates everything about pumpkins but she constantly consumes them everyday out of necessity. her last name was changed from amahou to amano so she would seem less suspicious and obvious but she hangs out with people who's names are very obvious so she might have wanted to think that through. she's usually neutral when it comes to the crazy antics of her friends but will usually join in to see what happens. she really loves bishounens and yaoi, she often has yaoi fantasies about her male friends and classmates (and just any two guys who are friends). she's not very open about this but her friends can easily tell when she's fantasizing. she occasionally gets nosebleeds too. she's kind of a tsundere who likes to keep quiet and is sugi/amami's right hand man/bestest friend. even though she tries to act normal she can't help but be pulled into the craziness.

kirei yokuboki: (lower left) kirei is a demon that loves cute lolita things. demons are usually supposed to be sexy and are supposed to lure people in but she doesn't want to do that. she'd much rather be pure and cute like angels....or the next best thing which is a lolita. she really loves the fashion and those types of animes/anime characters. she also likes shouta and anything cute. because of this she dotes on sugi/amami a lot XD and that's why she also follows her blindly. she's the melon monster of the group and is kind of ditzy. she fantasizes about cute things all the time. she's probably a lolicon pervert but i haven't decided on that yet =w= she's the most mature looking of all the characters (because everyone else is a loli OTL). she's kind of dimwitted but in a good way. she's always there to be refreshing and supportive and to give fan service when need! XD she'll probably have demon tendencies of being a pervert and will let it slip sometimes ;w; but for the most part she's just the dumb happy character.

henka and henko tenshiko: (bottom right) these two are cloud shapers (they're basically angels but i forgot to draw their wings). they work closely with the clouds. they shape them and make sure they're moving correctly. their hair color changes with the clouds (white when normal, gray when it's about to rain, and really dark gray/black when it's storming), and their eyes change with the sky (blue in the morning,orange in the evening, black/dark blue at night, and all the other colors the sky has). henka is the girl. she loves the color red because of blood. she hopes that one day the clouds will be able to absorb blood and turn her hair a pink/red color. she's really into guro, yandere, and yangire stuff, anything that has to do with blood. henko's story is still being decided on. cloud shapers/angels are supposed to be lonely creatures so i don't know whether to make henko her twin brother/sister or just another version of herself she made to not be lonely. what i do know about henko's story: cloud shapers are creatures that are virtually bound by nothing. when they are born they are given a gender but if they want to be the other they can just simply change it. they can also be whatever age they want and also have the option to act/age like a human but it'd be permanent. henko can't really decide what gender it is (canonly he's a boy but he can easily and at anytime become a girl). henko usually sticks with a boy to compliment his sister/creator (not sure which yet) but when it is needed (i.e having to put on a dress or wanting to change with the girls or take a bath with his sister or female friends) he turns into a girl. henko really likes gender benders, shounen, and shoujo because he can feel he really relates to it.
the two of them usually act like dolls (cloud shapers don't really have contact with anyone else so they have problems expressing their emotions) but are quick to join in on the shenanigans with their friends. they hardly smile but they are always entertained/happy. henka usually only smiles when she's thinking about bloody thoughts and henko only usually smiles when he sees his sister/creator smile, or when someones is interacting with him specifically and when he's not lumped together with his sister or when reading gender benders.

welp, that's just the main cast. UUUUUUGGGG THIS WAS SOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOONG. if you made it down here i applaud you and thank you for reading it ;w;
extras: all their names have meanings (except for ren's first name, i just wanted him named ren) if you want to know what they are just ask me, i added in extra bits to their names so it wouldn't be as blatantly obvious as it is.
i really love drawing all of these characters but i'll probably drop this story soon (like with all my other stories OTL)

story pt2: this is supposed to be a slice of life 4-panel (kind of) story where you just follow the adventures of these monsters, with some actual story added in here and there. so basically all these characters go to the same high school and cause mischief, the end ;7;
